Long-term archival (ERS)
Signatures expire cryptographically: algorithms get broken and keys get retired. RFC 4998 Evidence Record Syntax chains periodic re-timestamps so an archive can demonstrate a signature was valid at the time it was made, each link sealed before the previous one could be doubted.

with anchoring: the evidence chain is only as
